ABOUT
MY STORY
Dr. Kathy Norris is more than a painter; she is a soulful artist who pours her spirit onto every canvas. In rural Belmont County, Ohio, Kathy grew up with her father, a coal miner, and her mother, a homemaker. From an early age, she found her voice through art, sketching flowers, trees, and people in her childhood doodles. Kathy’s journey led to an impressive academic and professional career despite her modest beginnings. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio University and a Ph.D. in education focusing on online teaching and instructional design.
Over the course of 40 years, Kathy devoted herself to the art of teaching and learning, serving as a passionate teacher and
educational leader who touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Her unwavering commitment to education was driven by a belief in the transformative power of knowledge and the potential within every learner.
Retirement, however, began a new chapter in Kathy’s life. In 2017, she embarked on a personal artistic journey that allowed her to evolve as a visual artist. Inspired by the works of Van Gogh and Monet, Kathy’s art reflects a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the essence of humanity. Her work channels the vibrant energy of Van Gogh and the ethereal serenity of Monet, creating pieces that resonate with emotion and meaning. Through her paintings, Kathy hopes to inspire others to embrace self-discovery, celebrate creativity, and find beauty in the world around them.
